Best Lightweight and Travel Power Wheelchairs
Short answer
We have not published results for this list yet. Chairs appear here only after we have measured them and both our test lead and clinical advisor have signed off. Travel chairs must fold, be light enough to lift into a car, and carry batteries that airlines accept.
Who should look elsewhere?
A travel chair is the wrong choice if you drive on gravel, grass or steep driveways every day, or if you are close to the chair's rated capacity: many travel chairs are rated for 300 lb or less.
How did we pick and score these chairs?
To be on this list, a chair must meet every rule:
- Folds
- Measured weight without battery of 50 lb or less
- Every battery is 300 Wh or less (FAA limit)
| Sub-score | Weight |
|---|---|
| Portability | 45% |
| Range | 20% |
| Braking | 20% |
| Maneuvering | 15% |
Each sub-score comes from our measurements by a fixed formula. See the formulas.
