Best All-Terrain and Outdoor Power Wheelchairs
Short answer
We have not published results for this list yet. Chairs appear here only after we have measured them and both our test lead and clinical advisor have signed off. Outdoor chairs are judged first on the ramps and curbs they actually climbed in our tests, then on range and braking.
Who should look elsewhere?
Outdoor chairs are heavy and most do not fold. They are the wrong choice if the chair has to go in a car trunk or through narrow older doorways.
How did we pick and score these chairs?
To be on this list, a chair must meet every rule:
- Climbed a curb of at least 2 inches in every trial
| Sub-score | Weight |
|---|---|
| Ramps and curbs | 45% |
| Braking | 25% |
| Range | 20% |
| Maneuvering | 10% |
Each sub-score comes from our measurements by a fixed formula. See the formulas.
